The Arizona Homeopathic and Integrative Medical Association (AHIMA) was founded in 1981 at the same time that Arizona enacted its Homeopathic Law, the most complete Integrative Medical Act in the 50 United states. Qualified MDs and DOs are licensed in Arizona to practice Classical Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Chelation Therapy, Neuromuscular Integration, Nutrition and Electrodermal Screening under the supervision of a separate Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners. AHIMA is the organization that lobbies the state legislature to keep the law in force and represents the profession in all political regards. The California State Homeopathic Medical Society was founded in 1877 in response to the need for a professional association of homeopathic physicians. Today it is a non-profit, tax exempt, California corporation which has extended its membership to include the western United States.

The IHMA was originally established in 1855 in Peoria and first incorporated in 1881 in Chicago, and was reincorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1992. The IHMA is a professional organization open to M.D.'s, D.O.'s, D.C.'s, and D.D.S.'s (and those in training for these degrees) who are interested in homeopathy. Other licensed health practitioners are eligible for associate membership. The IHMA was formed to promote the science of homeopathic medicine, encourage homeopathic medical research, and establish standards of homeopathic medical education.

Meeting: Annual meeting in the Fall.
Publication(s): Homeopathy Medicine for the Whole Person. An informational brochure about homeopathy which also contains a listing of member physicians who practice homeopathy and a short list of local homeopathic pharmacies.

Established in 1862, the HMSSNY is a professional organization, open to M.D.'s and D.O.'s, formed for the advancement of homeopathic therapeutics. The society meets twice annually and distributes a newsletter to members.

The Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of Ohio was founded in Columbus in 1864. It has met continuously since, publishing transactions of its annual meetings in the 1800's and early 1900's. Originally incorporated in 1878, new articles were drawn up in 1993.

Established in 1865, the society was formed for the purpose of organizing and supporting the Homeopathic Medical profession in the state of Pennsylvania and advancing medical science. HMSSP membership is open to M.D.'s, D.O.'s, P.A.'s, C.R.N.P.'s, and R.Ph.'s, dentists and veterinarians.

Established in 1885 in New Orleans, LA, officially incorporated in 1985 as a nonstock corporation in Virginia, the SHMA is a professional organization open to M.D.'s, D.O.'s, and dentists which was formed to promote homeopathic medicine, advance homeopathic education, and safeguard homeopathic practice in the Southern states.

Meeting: Annual Meeting with the Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of Pennsylvania (HMSSP).
Publication(s): The Southern Letter, its newsletter, is published biannually in conjunction with the Hahnemannian, the biannual publication of the HMSSP.

The LIGA Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis -- IN BRIEF:
FOUNDED: Rotterdam, 10 September 1925, by fourteen homoeopathic physicians from nine countries. American Dr. Roy Upham was its first President. The LMHI was established under the terms of Swiss civil law with Geneva designated as its registered office.

Purpose: " . . . the development and securing of Homoeopathy worldwide . . . the creation of a link between homoeopaths with medical diplomas and between societies and persons who are interested in homoeopathy."

Members:
1. Institutional Members: National homoeopathic organizations and institutions.
2. Individual Full Members: physical persons that are physicians, veterinary surgeons and dentists with a full medical, veterinarian or dental qualification of a State University or any other Licensing authority duly recognized by the government of the country in which they practice and who have had special education in homoeopathy and hold any kind of diploma recognized by the association. Voting.
3. Associate Members: all persons with qualifications recognized nationally, who have undertaken homoeopathic training recognized by the LMHI, such as pharmacists, medical students, chemists, and all persons who are licensed healthcare providers such as naturopaths, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, and generally, persons who by their profession can contribute to homoeopathy, such as scientists, researchers, and authors.
