Guidelines for Authors

The American Journal of Homeopathic Medicine (AJHM) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal specifically intended to meet the needs of physicians involved in the specialty of homeopathy. The editor invites original manuscripts, feature articles, research reports, 'Homeopathic Grand Rounds' case studies, abbreviated case reports for 'Clinical Snapshots,' seminar reports, and position papers that focus on homeopathy, as well as book reviews and letters to the editor.

The editor reserves the right to edit and rewrite all articles or letters. Authors will be notified concerning acceptance, recommended revisions, or rejection of their manuscripts no later than ten (10) weeks after the manuscript is received. At times, longer delays may be unavoidable. Once accepted for publication, notice of acceptance and the projected date of publication will be sent to the senior author, together with the edited manuscript if significant changes have been made to the manuscript. Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy of quotations, references, and data submitted.

4. Manuscripts should include the title, authors' names and degrees, and address of main author (for correspondence).

5. An abstract of not more than 150 words should accompany the manuscript and should include the problem, considered methods, results, and conclusions. This should be followed by 3 to 5 key words for indexing purposes.

6. References must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Format of references should be the same as that adopted by the US National Library of Medicine and used in the Index Medicus. The sequence is as follows:

a) Journals. Name of author(s), last name first, followed by initials (if more than six authors, give first three followed by et al.). Full title of the paper, surrounded by quotemarks. Abbreviated title of the journal (no comma or period) year of publication; volume number: page number(s). (Note punctuation used in the sequence. Use the same punctuation in your reference.)

9. No manuscripts or figures will be returned to the author(s) following publication.

10. If authors want reprints of their articles, the order for reprints must be submitted with the manuscripts, prior to publication. One copy of the Journal in which the manuscript appears will be sent free of charge to the senior author.

11. Statements of informed consent must accompany any manuscript which reports the result of an experimental investigation on a human subject. It must state that consent was obtained from the subject after the nature of the procedure(s) was fully explained. Include a signed statement of consent from the patient (if a minor, from both parents or the legal guardian), with all identifiable photographs. Consent forms must contain a statement that photographs and information related to a case may be published separately or together, and that the patient's name will not be disclosed.

12. Because of recent changes in copyright laws, the transfer of copyright from author to publisher, previously implicit in the submission of a manuscript, book review, or letter to the editor, must now be explicitly transferred to enable the publisher to ensure maximum dissemination of the author's work. The following should be copied, signed, and sent to the AIH by each person submitting material for publication (include signature and date):

All accepted manuscripts become the permanent property of the American Institute of Homeopathy and may not be published elsewhere without written permission from the author and the American Institute of Homeopathy.

Copyright transfer: In consideration of the American Institute of Homeopathy's action taken in reviewing and editing this submission the undersigned author(s) hereby transfer(s), assign(s), or otherwise convey(s) all copyright ownership to the American Institute of Homeopathy in the event that this work is published by the American Institute of Homeopathy.
