About the American Institute of Homeopathy

Established in 1844, the American Institute of Homeopathy (AIH) is the oldest national medical association in the United States. Our membership is open to licensed physicians (medical, osteopathic, naturopathic and veterinary), dentists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who have integrated homeopathic medicine into their practice, as well as pharmacologists and pharmacists. See  Membership  for information about Membership Benefits, Standards of Practice, By Laws and an Application.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the science and art of homeopathic medicine, to safeguard the interests of the homeopathic medical profession, and quality and integrity of homeopathy medicines, to set the standards of homeopathic medical education, to educate the medical and scientific communities about the scientific basis for homeopathic medicine, and to inform the public of homeopathy as a medical specialty.

Our Specialty Certification

The American Board of Homeotherapeutics, a legally separate entity, is the certifying board for medically-licensed homeopathic physicians. See Certification for further information about the certification requirements and a list of certified homeopathic physicians.

Our Journal

We publish our peer-reviewed American Journal of Homeopathic Medicine (formerly known as the Journal of the American Institute of Homeopathy) on a quarterly basis. Our Journal, which is available in print and online versions, contains original research articles, cured cases, history, philosophy, book and seminar reviews as well as other articles of interest. See Journal for rates, author guidelines, and sample articles.

Our Online Members’ Community

We have an active online community for our members, in which we discuss clinical issues, research findings, and other related matters of interest. Our Members’ Only section of our website contains the online versions of our Journal and other clinical documents of interest to our members.

Our Annual Conference and Members’ Meeting

We sponsor an annual conference, sometimes in association with our affiliated state societies.  Our most recent conferences and meetings have taken place in New Orleans, Louisiana, Newark, New Jersey, and Tempe Arizona.  Feedback from these conferences is usually outstanding.
