Editorial: AIH Tidings

“Surely every age ought to endeavour [sic.] to benefit by the experiments, whether successful or otherwise, of all preceding ones; instead of every generation commencing a new series of trials, and wandering over the same ground in search of truths which had been long ago discovered; or in stumbling through the mazes of error without regarding the beacons set up by their forefathers to direct the footsteps of their descendants. If the wisdom of antiquity be entitled to high reverence in any case, it surely is so in medicine, founded as this art especially is on general observation and experience.”1

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Summer 2022 issue of the AJHM!

In browsing through the current journal you will find several interesting articles: how one physician became a homeopath, compelling cases, an historical figure portrait, a remembrance of a beloved colleague, and a philosophy of homeopathy article. All of this points to a tradition in homeopathy that stretches from our beginning into the current era of “scientific medicine.” Our art and science is based on building from the truths of the past and a continuous winnowing of the wheat from the chaff. The next page of the journal will refer to C.M.F. Von Boenninghausen’s great breakthrough in understanding the patient from the homeopathic point of view. This subject in itself deserves a serious work that is yet to be published by a capable author.

We are constantly engaged in both refining the details of our science—through repeated cures which emphasize the characteristics of the materia medica—and the general ideas which offer a broad perspective on disease itself in any form.

Conference Information…

We also would like to report that the American Institute of Homeopathy and the Faculty of Homeopathy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreement to move forward collaboratively on projects related to homeopathic education, research, and best practice, bringing our two organizations closer together.

The AIH Board has been busy with long-term strategy planning, the AIH Seal project, starting an AIH/AHE Acute Care Course for Health Professionals, and we will be sending our LMHI Vice President Lisa Amerine, ND, to the LIGA Meeting in Turkey in September this year.

As always, we look forward to your letters to the editor, your article submissions, and general suggestions for our continuing improvement.

Alex BeckkerRespectfully yours,
