“For true unanimity is that which proceeds from a free judgment, arriving at the same conclusion, after an examination of fact.”
– Francis Bacon, Novum Organum, first book, Par. 77
“Dear Mr. Steinestel: I put to you some questions, from your answers to which I shall be able to judge of your capability to practice Homoeopathically and to cure patients of all sorts … When the true physician has given the patient a small dose of a medicine selected by reason of similarity of the most characteristic symptoms in the healthy individual, with good results (as might naturally be expected), when ought he to administer another dose of medicine? How does he then perceive what medicine he ought to give?”
– Bradford, TL. The Life and Letters of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. B. Jain Publishers. New Delhi. p. 441
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Spring edition of our distinguished journal!
The life of a homeopath is a constant struggle to collect and organize the facts that are presented to his outer and inner perception. Apprehending the materia medica of a remedy that has been clinically verified, finding the clue in a given case that allows one to form a picture of the disease, and sometimes following one’s intuition, have all been best utilized in the work of the “true physician” as Hahnemann would express it.
The articles presented in our current issue range from a discussion of the connection between homeopathy and spagyric medicine, the updated materia medica of Fluoricum acidum, a case of Kola, and two book reviews. All testify to the vitality of our art and science. Let us not stop at any point developing our innate abilities to perceive deeply into the nature of disease and keep moving forward, making sure our practice is in direct line with the “life of Hahnemann—brilliant chemist, learned physician, great reformer and cultured man … whose teachings and influence have done so much to rob sickness of its terrors and to restore health to humanity.” (Ibid. Bradford. Preface.)
We look forward to your communication and articles!
Respectfully,
Alex Bekker, MD, ABIHM, FAIS
