Dear Colleagues,
I first of all hope that you and your loved ones are well. We are certainly living in unusual and challenging times. It just so happens that we practice our unusual type of medicine, which is so well suited for this challenge because of its uniquely effective, more holistic point of view of health and healing.
The best way for us as professionals to continue to improve our clinical results is through continuing education. The American Institute of Homeopathy is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for its members and the homeopathic community at large. The American Journal of Homeopathic Medicine that you are currently reading is one of the cornerstones of that education. We have also been providing webinars. This year alone we have hosted three webinars on the methodology of using homeopathic medications in the treatment of people with Covid-19. Two of those webinars are posted on the AIH website, homeopathyusa.org. On top of that, on the AIH website we are continuing an ongoing AIH COVID-19 Data Collection Project featuring (as of October 2020) over 800 case reports of patients with COVID-19 having been treated by homeopathic practitioners with homeopathic medications. I encourage you to peruse it and contribute to it. In order to obtain special access information to this project, please contactPeter Gold (peter_gold@goldorluk.com).
At the time of your reading this, we will have hosted our annual AIH conference. Through some unexpected foresight, we had planned for this to be an online streaming conference even before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. I think the AIH board collectively took a remedy for this genius decision! The conference aforementioned was very dynamic and impressive; as a result, the AIH and the International Academy of Homeopathy are exploring ways for collaboration on future projects. Two of the key points that were highlights for me: first, a greater understanding of George Vithoulkas’s Twelve Levels of Health, which are divided into four groups, and the second highlight for me was the ongoing discussion of different Strategies of Prescribing, and how these were used in case analysis. I have since purchased Vithoulkas’s excellent book Levels Of Health, the 3rd revised edition, which discusses many practical issues in prescribing as well as the classification of health and disease.
At the AIH, we also have available some recorded webinars which are posted in an effort to reach out to colleagues and students not yet very familiar with, but curious about, homeopathy. The first one is about homeopathic research, both in basic science and clinical studies. Dr. Iris Bell, Dr. Peter Fisher (deceased), and Dr. Jennifer Jacobs have presented the latest homeopathic research to seven naturopathic and regular medical schools (Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, The School of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, National University of Natural Medicine, George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Michigan Medical School, and University of Arizona College of Medicine), as well as to the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), and the American Medical Students Association (AMSA) -twice! -and have been very well received.
Recently, through the great efforts of Drs. Susanne Saltzman, Florence McPherson, and Ioana Razi, we now have an AIH Grand Rounds Presentation ready to be delivered. Their impressive presentation covers the history and science of homeopathy, and the clinical applications, along with case reports that demonstrate the use of homeopathy in real life clinical practice. We encourage anyone interested in having these presentations made available to a specific audience to contact me. Let us commit to the improvement of our clinical results through ongoing education to better serve our patients.
If you are not a current member of the AIH, I encourage you to join our venerable organization. Also, please make a donation to support our continued efforts in the service of our profession, patients, and our sacred art and science.
Wishing you health and deep satisfaction,
Ron Dushkin, MD
