This workshop explores repertorization as taught through a living clinical lineage reaching back to James Tyler Kent. Drawing on the approaches of Jost Künzli von Fimelsberg and Dr. Dario Spinedi, it shows how to use the repertory as a clinical instrument: selecting rubrics, ranking symptoms by hierarchy, and moving from case material to remedy choice. Special attention goes to rubrics that express the characteristic symptoms of remedies and, at times, of disease, with practical pointers drawn from oral transmission that are rarely found in written sources.
Format: Pre-distributed case, participant analysis and discussion, guided group repertorization, remedy and potency selection, and an in-depth study of the chosen remedy’s characteristic symptoms.
Participants will learn to:
- Analyze cases through structured repertory-based reasoning
- Evaluate rubrics by hierarchy and clinical relevance
- Justify remedy and potency choices
- Apply characteristic symptoms in remedy differentiation and materia medica study
Can (Jon) Ikram is a Turkish-American who received his professional homeopathic training in Germany in the 1990s. He received his first repertory and materia medica from a friend in 1993 and was hooked. He began to read homeopathy alongside his university courses in Middle Eastern Studies, Comparative Religion and Philosophy. After graduating with a combined BA and MA from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich in 1997, he shifted his academic work to the history of medicine with a dissertation on the development of Hahnemann’s theory of chronic diseases (miasms) in the 20th century. In 1999, he received his license to practice after attending a naturopathic school and successfully passing his state examinations in Germany. He became a certified homeopath after attending a one-year full-time program at the Academy for Homeopathy in Gauting, Germany. He opened his initial practice in 1999. After meeting his mentor, Dr. Dario Spinedi, he devotedly attended all of his workshops in Austria, Germany and Switzerland for a period of 10 years. In addition, Can had a career in senior management at several international research universities around the world before returning to full-time homeopathic research and practice in 2022. He makes his home with his family in Munich, Germany.
